Thailand has genuinely good and genuinely cheap mobile data, usually better than whatever you arrived from. Getting connected takes about five minutes.

Which network

The two big names are AIS and True (which absorbed dtac), with NT a smaller third. Coverage across Hua Hin is good on all of them; for the hills and beaches further out, AIS more often has the edge.

Where to buy

• At the airport — tourist SIM packages, convenient, priced for convenience. Fine for a short trip.
• In town — any operator shop or mall counter will sell you a normal prepaid SIM for considerably less. Topping up afterwards is trivial through the app or any 7-Eleven.
• eSIM — widely supported and saves the shop visit entirely if your phone takes one.

Wi-Fi where you are staying

Fibre is widespread in Hua Hin and hotel and villa Wi-Fi is generally fast enough for streaming and video calls. The usual weak point is not the connection but the coverage — one router at the far end of a concrete-walled house will not reach the back bedroom.

If the Wi-Fi where you are staying is poor, say so rather than putting up with it. It is very often a router placement problem that can be fixed the same day. And a mobile hotspot from your Thai SIM makes a perfectly good backup.
